Bio & Contact
Jane Brenner has braided her training in the fine arts with that of calligrapher-graphic designer. Her graduate studies in painting gave her the grounding for later work in publication and book design. Finding that calligraphy, an art done by hand, is increasingly valued in an age of computer-produced forms, she has focused her work on painting, illustration, design, and hand lettering.
Working out of her studio in Santa Rosa (near San Francisco), she has exhibited in the Sonoma Arts Council Gallery, Sonoma State University, the A Street Gallery, the Skirball Museum in Los Angeles, the Jewish Museum of San Francisco, The Gallery of Sea and Heaven, and in Kalligraphia (the annual exhibition of the San Francisco Friends of Calligraphy), "Word Play," collaborative exhibition with Mario Uribe, BackStreet Gallery.
Her work has been published in Letter Arts Review, Alphabet, and Victoria, and she has been a three-time winner of the Graceful Envelope contest. Her work is represented in public and private collections in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
